The cheapest places to travel these days would be Las Vegas. Contrary to popular belief there's more to Las Vegas than meets the eye.
At this present state, economy, travel and money do not seem to blend well. Not in the same sentence. It seems to cause an uneasy feeling in the gut, maybe an overwhelming feeling of hopelessness. This same hopelessness can be so easily solved. It is important to your mental and emotional health to travel, to get away and have a feeling of release. To escape from the mundane doesn't necessarily require a whole lot of money.
One of the cheapest places to travel these days is Las Vegas. Contrary to popular belief you can definitely get some bang for your buck here! Airlines such as Airtran are offering splendid packages to warm locations all over the United States. When most people think of Las Vegas the first thing that comes to mind is gambling and spending a whole lot of money. This is not the case, there is much more to Las Vegas then meets the eye. For example, the cheapest place to stay in Las Vegas is definitely not the "Las Vegas Strip". You can find the cheapest hotels near Fremont Street which is located downtown. Not only that, Fremont street offers the cheapest and largest drinks in town, depending on your choice and type of drink. Don't forget if you do decide to gamble drinks are free.
While staying at your hotel it is a good idea to stop by the concierge as they offer incredible discount coupons on shows and special events going on around the city. If you're feeling hungry, Las Vegas offers the cheapest buffet you could imagine, at a average price of $5.99 you can't go wrong. Also, take advantage of the free light show on Fremont Street, there's always a barrage of things to occupy you. As far as traveling the strip, don't waste your money on cab fare, as this will be too expensive. The cheapest and best way to experience this city is the take advantage of the strip trolley which stops every 20 minutes at every major hotel. It's only $2.00 a trip or you can opt for a still inexpensive day pass.
While you're on the strip especially at night, make sure you have a camera to capture a complimentary water show at the Bellagio Fountains. You will view music and light intertwined for an exquisite sight. At Ceasars Palace take a tour of the inner architecture, and view the talking statues. If this doesn't quench your travel thirst and you're looking for some adventure a little off the beaten path, do take a look at some of the inexpensive canyon tours, the cheapest being Red Rock Canyon Tour, which offers a full package deal. A 5 hour tour of Red Rock Canyon and not just a drive by. You get to experience the canyon, take pictures, tour a local ranch and a lunch is provided for you.
